My specialty is in researching older pieces and restoring them to their original fishable condition, although in many cases I have been able to adapt rods for modern fishing. I have restored or repaired rods from American makers such as Payne, Dickerson, Garrison, Young, Uslan, Leonard, Brandin, Orvis, Powell, Heddon and Monteque as well as Hardy and other British rods along with my favorite, Pezon et Michel from France. I have also had the pleasure of restoring some truly unique early Lancewood and Greenheart rods that predate the bamboo era.
I also enjoy building my own cane, graphite or glass. The same care and techniques I use in restoring old cane goes into building a top-notch rod of the best new materials.
