For many years I have refinished and restored gun stocks for collectors and enthusiasts. I will now offer this service on my Redwing site.
My choice for stocks is always an oil finish. Hand rubbed and applied with concern for grain, wood type and texture as well as the maker's intent. This finish provides complete protection with the ability to make future scratch repairs without taking down the stock to bare wood.
I have sole access to the best formula known for stock finishing; one given to me by a preservationist from one of the oldest European double gun companies in existence. It is foolproof and absolutely perfect! These techniques remove the old finish without sanding and soaking the wood with solvents thus preventing softening damage. Checkering is kept in tact, cleaned and enhanced without clogging.
Natural oils are mixed with roots and waxes and applied warm for deepest penetration. The results are time tested and will last for generations.
