Greetings! My name is Joe Balestrieri. I am the founder of Redwing Fly Rods. I provide custom bamboo fishing rod restoration services, as well as carefully selected rods for sale.

My specialty is in researching older pieces and restoring them to their original fishable condition, although in many cases I have been able to adapt rods for modern fishing. I have restored rods from American makers such as Payne, Dickerson, Garrison, Young, Uslan, Leonard as well as British rods and my favorite Pezons from France. I have also had the pleasure of restoring some truly unique early Lancewood and Greenheart rods that predate the bamboo era.
I also enjoy building my own new rods from cane, or graphite or glass. The same care and techniques I use in restoring old cane goes into building a top-notch rod of the best new materials. |
